Lord Shiva listening to his request says that only Ganesha has the remedy for the demon named Analasura. Then everyone requests Ganesh ji to save Analasura from torture, which Ganesh ji accepts. Then there was a war between Lord Ganesha and Analasura.
At the end of this battle, Ganesha swallows Analasura. After swallowing this demon, Lord Ganesha started having a terrible burning sensation in his stomach. Seeing this all the gods got worried. At the same time, Rishi Kashyap makes 21 knots of Durva and gives them to Lord Ganesha to eat. The burning sensation of their stomach ends as soon as they eat the funga of the dub. Then Ganesh ji is pleased and says that the devotee who offers Durva to him in this way will continue to be blessed by Ganesha. It is said that since then Durva was offered to Lord Ganesha.
On the other hand, Tulsi is not offered to Ganesh ji because once Tulsi proposed to Ganesh ji to marry him, which Lord Ganesha rejected saying that he is celibate. But being unhappy with Tulsi's stubbornness, Ganesha cursed Tulsi that she would be married to a demon, but she would remain a tree in the next life. It is said that Tulsi is not offered to Lord Ganesha because of cursing Tulsi.
